Accessibility Statement

The National Institute for Health and Care Research is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the Clinical Trials Toolkit, www.ct-toolkit.ac.uk.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance(s) listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • It is not possible to clearly navigate the interactive Routemap image with a keyboard only as the focus is obscured and it cannot be accurately read by screenreaders.  This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured, WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content) and WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard)
  • Images on some pages do not always have suitable image descriptions.  This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content)
  • Some of our documents are in a non-HTML format, for example PDF.  They are not accessible in a number of ways including missing text alternatives and missing document structure.

If you need an accessible version of any of these documents email your request to ct-toolkit@nihr.ac.uk. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared in August 2024.  It was last reviewed in September 2024.

The method for preparing for this statement was self-assessment checking against WCAG 2.2 AA standards as part of the design and build process, inline content editing accessibility checks and tools-based testing of pages across multiple browsers.  A further assessment will be carried out by a third party during the final quarter of 2024.
