The MRC has produced practical guidance on ‘Using information about people in health research’ as part of the MRC Ethics Series.  This guidance reflects the current relevant legal framework when using information about people in health research.  It will be revised to reflect the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is expected to come into force on 25 May 2018.  However, if you follow the advice in this guide you will be well placed to meet the requirements of GDPR.
